2008 Research Projects
There are many IPSA projects ongoing that can provide you and your company with valuable information. Some of the recent projects are listed below.
Base Subscription - $200
All research subscriptions require payment of the base annual fee of $200. The fee covers research committee expenses, plus additional research data that may be available.
Seed Corn Treatment Trial - $800.00
The IPSA Seed Corn Treatment Trial replaces the cooperative seed treatment trials that were previously conducted by Corn State's Hybrid Services. The objective is to provide unbiased, third-party data on the efficacy of seed-applied fungicides and insecticides.
Corn Disease Screen - $800.00
Varieties are inoculated with diseases including Northern Leaf Blight (2 races), Northern Leaf Spot, Gray Leaf Spot, Stewart's Wilt, Goss Wilt, Southern Leaf Blight and Eyespot. Ratings to common rust are also recorded when natural infection occurs.
Plant Disease Diagnostic Service - $100.00
Subscribers may request custom disease resistance ratings for specific hybrids, including past and current data on inbred parents as well as the hybrids, and suggested descriptions for field books or other agronomic information distributed to the subscribing company's customers. Subscribers are also offered unlimited diagnosis of corn diseases on samples submitted and telephone communication concerning corn disease problems.
Inbred Sensitivity Screen - $800.00
Minimizing stress on inbreds increases seed quality and maximize sellable units per acre. While weed control is essential to maintaining seed quality, careful management of herbicide application will minimize stress on plants and will produce the most profitable results. Taking inbreds to yield determines the long-term affects on actual performance.
Hybrid Headline Fungicide Study - $800.00
With the increased acres of corn on corn production, many producers are asking IPSA members about the need for in-crop application of fungicides. This study includes 40 hybrids planted in three unique locations – one being corn following soybeans and two locations representing corn following corn. One of the corn following corn locations will be planted at a 40,000 kernel population. This project is intended to evaluate the benefit of one application of fungicide at the flag leaf to mid-tassel stage. Data collected will include visual ratings 14 days pre-harvest as well as all normal yield and lodging data typically collected in yield trials.
